I was totally smitten with Virginia Madsen’s character in the 2004 “Indiewood” film Sideways. Now, a few years later, I am loving her role with Keep the Wisdom. Lose the Lines ™ campaign possibly even more. You know, it probably takes a lot out of a person to admit that they’ve undergone some sort of facial rejuvenation, especially if he or she is a Hollywood favorite. So to see a woman step forward and promote the safety of aesthetic facial injectables is quite cool, I must say.
Of all the actresses out there seeking ways to maintain a youthful appeal, Virginia Madsen has not only admitted to receiving Botox ® Cosmetic and Juvederm ™, but is actually working with a foundation that aims to “educate women about the importance of seeking an aesthetic-specialty physician when considering these treatments and choosing products that are science-based and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”
And obviously for Virginia Madsen to take part in this cause, announcing the launch of the foundation on May 8; she is happy with the results of these facial fillers. What about everyone else? The use of injectable treatments is happening more often on more people than ever before. Actually 4.1 million people were treated by Botox ® Cosmetic in 2006, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Yes, wow. Amidst the judgments and the pointed fingers of who-is-getting-what, there are millions of people who have kept an open-mind and decided to take the plunge (I mean, the needle). So I have to agree with the overall stance of this foundation: educate yourself, choose FDA-approved treatments, and locate a specialist with great skill level. Mucho importante!
Because as great as the idea of “shedding years from a person’s face” sounds, should I ever decide that I want to use a dermal filler for facial rejuvenation, I’m still gonna take the stance: What works for Virginia Madsen, may not work for me!

So what is the big deal about mineral makeup? I’ve never been too experimental with what goes on my face. But now, I am sooo glad I came across my own little sample of Jane Iredale’s PurePressed ® powder, which came from one of those fabulous TestTubes ™ from New Beauty Magazine. The sample itself was perfect, because there were five shades to test. With my uneven, biracial skin tone, I tend to fall between shades. So I found myself having fun and mixing them together (great as a concealer also)!
Just some of the reasons why I am in love with Jane Iredale makeup:
• Tons of plastic surgeons and dermatologists recommend this line (trustworthy!)
• Helps to calm and smooth irritated skin
• Won’t block pores!
• Has not been tested on animals
• Up to SPF 20 of broad-spectrum UVB and UVA protection
As Cher from the beloved 90s teen flick Clueless says, “You see how picky I am about my shoes, and they only go on my feet!” (…or something like that.) So I’m happy I got to test a product before taking the plunge and buying the entire line! What’s next on my list? More of Jane Iredale’s mineral makeup cosmetics. This time around, I want the Brush-Me Bronze ™. After all, it is for every “Goddess on the Go” and I absolutely love to embrace the look of SoCal beauty.

Line after line, joke after joke, last night’s MTV Movie Awards made Paris Hilton into a laughingstock. But did she bring it on herself? (You know, the whole driving drunk, and then caught driving without her license while speeding on Sunset in the wee hours of the night…)
MTV commonly uses comedians as hosts for award shows, and during the cinematic night with Sarah Silverman and Dane Cook, Paris Hilton was hardly free from their grasp. This is why turning herself in later that night was no surprise to me! According to Ryan Seacrest’s early morning radio show on KIIS FM, she went to jail with hair extensions still in place. I mean, even with a solo cell, she still has to look fabulous right? I also heard that when she is “free,” a book with her memoirs of jail time will hit shelves. Let’s admit, Paris Hilton is definitely a PR powerhouse!
Attending an MTV awards show, practically knowing you will be the joke of the night? Is she clueless or playing her own game? Still, with a flirty, black dress, jewelry still intact, and a calm demeanor, Ms. Hilton appeared glamorous as ever.

Do you dream about the day you can turn your size A cup into a full C or D? Another important question for you: Now that silicone gel breast implants have been FDA approved for use in the United States, are you dreaming about breast augmentation?
As predicted by nearly half the members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the amount of breast augmentation surgeries will increase up to 25 percent in the next year, and that 40 percent or more of all patients will choose silicone. I wonder how saline is going to duke it out against its competition. Will it still be considered the overall “safer” of the two?
Please share your thoughts!
