Hi Fatma, thanks for reaching Beauty Chat and sending us your questions. Although I would suggest to seek the help of a medical professional, such as a dermatologist, to better assist you. iEnhance.com can connect you to several physicians in nearly any area of the country, allowing you to call their offices or even send an e-mail regarding your condition. You might also want to check out our plastic surgery forum, and share your concerns with other people as well as Stephanie, our healthcare provider.

    Good luck! Elana

There are a few treatments I would like to undergo, and wondering…what is the difference between a day spa and medi-spa?

  5. Elana

    August 2, 2007 at 11:52 am

Well Maritza23, they are both regarded as relaxing environments with professionals on staff. However, a medi-spa (short for “medical spa”) most likely has doctor or a specialist who is qualified to perform minimally-invasive procedures, such as facial fillers or laser treatments (some facilites might also offer surgical procedures). Plus, a day spa is just that — usually time spent just for the day. There are medi-spa retreats that may offer the option of an entire weekend in a remote getaway. Facelogic and Glen Ivy are both day spas.

please tell me how to get rid of varicuse veins/spider veins

    Hi Nina,

Most importantly, you should schedule an appointment with a doctor and discuss your concerns. Varicose veins and spider veins are actually a bit different. A specialist can better assist you in determining the best method to reduce your appearance of varicose veins or spider veins. Good luck!

HOW MUCH IS A BREAST AUGMENTATION?…

The cost of breast augmentation is not one specific number. It involves a variety of factors, so I would suggest getting researching this procedure and all of the fees involved with it. Learn how to “Fund a Fresh Look.” The initial consultation with an experienced doctor and participating in PlasticSurgery.com’s forum are also ways to gather the info you need.

    Good luck Jami!

Can a 14 year old have nose surgery if she has a very large nose and a large bump on it?

  12. Elana

    September 10, 2007 at 4:32 pm

    Hey Debbie:

Good question! Are you the 14-year old? Or, do you have a friend or daughter who is interested in nose surgery? Either way, one of the best ways to learn if rhinoplasty is a good choice is to research the procedure and find a plastic surgeon to consult. Plastic surgery for a young teenager is usually not encouraged by a doctor, due to the fact that she is still growing, but each case is unique. Let us know what you find out!

About 6 weeks ago I had a neck lift, upper and lower
eye lift. I have swelling on mostly one side of my face and neck. Is this normal. I am getting concerned that it won’t go away. My eyes are very red on the scar lines. I wear makeup to cover them at this point. When will they fade. susan

    Hi Susan,

Have you contacted your doctor yet? It sounds like he or she should know about your scarring. Some surgeries take longer to heal than others. Still, I think your best bet is to get in and see your doctor for a follow-up visit. There might be special makeup to help cover-up as well — maybe the doc has a suggestion. Good luck! Let us know how it goes…

Hey Sara, check out Mellori’s latest feature on hair removal. “An Intimate Shave: Not Such a Taboo After All” might lead you in the right direction! I would also suggest visiting a dermatologist. He or she can discuss laser hair removal with you or additional options. Good luck!

Hello,my skin becomes so dry and irritated during the cold. It is itchy and red. Any good creams for my face?

Sounds to me like a good moisturizer that is designed for dry skin would be great for you to look into. Because there are a variety of skincare products out there, I think it’s best if you meet with an esthetician or dermatologist to figure out a solution. Ever have a facial? They are FABULOUS. Facelogic Spa offers a membership program, which I belong to. I have a combination of oily/dry skin, and since I joined 4 months ago, the quality of facial skin has definitely improved. I notice it and so does Sarah, my esthetician. It also helps that each time I walk out of Facelogic, I have a new product to use. Then when I go back, I let her know how they are working out. The consistent up-keep of my skin has also helped to educate me about what I’m doing wrong and what I’m doing right.

Until you meet with a professional, however, you probably want to steer clear of scented products if you are having irritation. Moisturizers and creams that contain all natural ingredients might be a good route to get started with! Good luck Monice ;)

Hi, I have a lot of large pink/red dots on my hands, it has been like that for all my life but I’ve always wondered why and whether it’s bad or not.

My hair doesn’t seem to grow, I am having trouble with split ends, I had it trimmed but I keep getting the split ends. I color my hair so I try to keep it conditioned. I use a leave-in conditioner on the ends only, because my other problem is my scalp is always oily and the rest of my hair is dry and brittle. I don’t know what to do. I use a straightenerand there is
no way i can give that up because i have natural curly hair thats unruly. I tried to use one of those products that
you spray on your hair to protect it while you straighten it but it made my hair greasy. Help what can I do.
