Esquire Fashion Tips for Men: ATTN BOTH STYLE DUDS AND DIE-HARD “FASHIONISTOS” ALIKE!

Fashion slide show: http://men.style.comHere, at Beauty Chat, we definitely do not want to exclude our fellow male readers from satisfying their fashion fix. After all, fellas, you want that object, or for some – object(s), of affection to mimic the wise words of Paris Hilton: “That’s Hot” as opposed to “Huh?”

Whether you’re a man who inadvertently delves into sartorial pitfalls or is a self-proclaimed style pioneer who regards Esquire Magazine as the Holy Grail of men’s fashion, beauty tips should never go unwarranted; especially when they are being dictated by the magazine’s style gurus themselves.

The following are just samples of Esquire’s 50 new laws of fashion. While some are undeniably true, others are sadly true because you know at least one other male culprit, aside from yourself of course, who has committed the crime. Men, you know who you are:

No. 17: “A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life.”Oscar Wilde
No. 25: Short socks are for Englishmen and Italian bus drivers. You are neither.
No. 35: Never buy anything yellow. How to break it: Unless it’s a Lamborghini.
No. 45: Nothing says “Jackass” quite as well as a cell phone on a belt clip.
No. 47: Sunglasses should be worn only as sunglasses. And never at night.

Although Esquire accurately conjures up 50 great style laws that every man should “commit to memory,” I could not help but notice several fashion rules of thumb that did not make the list. Bear in mind, these overlooked laws of fashion admittedly stem from personal pet peeves; however, I have little doubt Queer Eye’s “Fab Five” would beg to differ:

Fashion Tips - Esquire Magazine symbol  Be sure to have a pack of mints handy at all times. There are few things more disappointing than a well-dressed man with bad breath.

Fashion Tips - Esquire Magazine symbol   Groomed feet are the window to good hygiene. How to break it: Ladies, you too should listen to this whisper from the wise.

Whether you’re a repeated fashion offender or have found a style that complements you almost flawlessly, there are limitless ways to create a look that exudes your unique, inner masculinity. As in the words of ex-Gucci connoisseur Tom Ford, “Know yourself and know what you like. That’ll be your signature.”

Be the judge for yourself and see all of Esquire’s 50 laws of fashion!

Finally, someone thought of us men for a change! Males everywhere need to understand that their looks are just as important as those of our female counterparts! Always look your best, because you only get one chance to make a great first impression. And great first impressions? Well, that’s just fabulous.

Whether you’re conservative, funky, trendy, thrift store couture…whatever, the most important thing about fashion for any individual is feeling confident. And looking good is always a positive trait. Awesome topic, Mellori!

“White socks with black dress shoes.” I’ll admit to that one, sometimes it’s just more convenient. Dressing up and dressing down seems like a battle, I suppose a balance between the two works. Personally it’s comfort that matters most, nothing wrong with dress shirt and tie + jeans and chucks =) Great article!

Why didnt this come out sooner!!! Just last week I was wearing white sox with black dress shoes without being aware that it was a major fashion faux pas. Corey Hart taught me to wear my sunglasses at night and I do own yellow gear.

    I am now officially ashamed.

Ohhhh I hate the white socks with black dress shoes too! This is a good article. Let’s face it, there are enough magazines out there that tell women how to dress, it’s about time someone helps out the guys.

I personally think the article offers great tips for all men. However, if one of your favorite styles goes against any of the said laws of fashion, as long as you wear it well and with confidence, then go on with your “rebel” self. Thanks for the input guys!

Every guy has his own style, but these are good basic guidelines to follow. I think as long as you feel comfortable and confident in the clothes you’re wearing, your unique style will show through. And I agree with Law #35, the only yellow thing you should ever own is a Lambo!
