Nathan Menashe, the designer of Freedom of Choice (FOC) Jeans knows how important it is to “go green.” With a pair of my own dark denim FOC jeans, and an appreciation of their colored denim look (but with never enough guts — nor the shape — to pull them off!) , I am so excited to learn how Menashe has incoporated eco-friendly awareness to fashion.
From a company that creates more than just denim bottoms (think jackets and skirts as also part of the FOC collection), and the type of styles that easily allow you to transition from a jean day at work to an evening out with the girls, you gotta love their “Earth Friendly Jean.”
This new bootcut denim pant avoids the use of toxins or synthetic fertilizers. The Earth Friendly Jean uses organic cotton and a non-chemical wash process, which protects the integrity of the jean fibers. Basically, these jeans are expected to have a long life span. From what I understand, organic cotton is more expensive and makes the wash process slower and a bit more time-consuming. Yet according to Menashe, protecting the environment and human health by incorporating this earth friendly process is extremely important.
“We all play an important role in the sustainability of the environment,” he has said regarding the Earth Friendly Jean. “Although, we currently only have one FOC style that utilizes this chemical-free process we are always looking for ways to make the business and the brand more earth conscious.”
Understanding the current demand to produce even more eco-friendly products, Menashe plans to produce more organic Freedom of Choice styles. With an adorable pocket to love, the Earth Friendly Jean retails for $148 and comes in a dark wash — the “Cascade.”
If your decision on whether or not to pick up a pair of your own is strongly based on your budget, you’re not alone! (Believe me, I know.)
So for Beauty Chat readers seeking a sexy, flattering pant, we are giving away a FREE PAIR of Freedom of Choice jeans. Although, the style up for grabs is a surprise, courtesy of Menashe and his team. (It may be organic, it may not. It may be a flared pant, it may be bootcut.) But once we choose the winner, we will relay your size and shape — don’t worry!
A random winner will be chosen on Friday, Feb. 1st — same day as the Smooth Heals contest. All you have to do to enter is comment, and tell us what important factors YOU consider when shopping for jeans.

And they look uber flattering on the bum of the model in that pic! I always think about SHAPE when I’m shopping for jeans. I’m a pear shape, so I want jeans that are straight leg, to lengthen my already tall frame, and to put less emphasis on the curve in my hips.

Well since I teach school, I do alot of bending. When I’m shopping for jeans, I need a pair that has some give. I don’t want them to be too tight so that I have to hide a mushroom cap or too lose so the kids ask “Do you need a belt?”
