My son is now 13 weeks old (that’s me carrying Jonas at 8 months prego), and because I am no longer nursing; I am embarking on my journey back to a healthy body. The plan is that I am going to focus on how I feel and how my clothes fit versus the number on the scale.
Along with my PlasticSurgery.com co-workers and Beauty Chat contributors, we are all challenging each other to an in-office “Biggest Loser” contest. The winner gets a pot of money, which is inspiring me to lose my baby weight.
I have 30 pounds to lose and three to four dress sizes to go down to. My goal is to continue tracking my calories and fat on TheDailyPlate.com, walk on my lunches with Jennifer, and do some Pilates at home when the kids are in bed (I also have a 3 year-old daughter).
I would love to hear your weight loss suggestions, and of course your support is appreciated.
Track along with me and personal story on Beauty Chat!
‘Til next time…

In the past year I have lost all my baby weight plus a few pounds. I basically kept a food journal in the beginning. Switched all white Carbs to wheat carbs. I limited my portion sizes and ate alot of fruits and veggies & LOTS of water.
Worked out using a pedometer so I could track my mileage while on the treadmill. I started walking on the treadmill 3-4 days a week.
I lost about 30 pounds or more. However now I have hit a plateau and cant seem to knock anymore off:(
I’m going to continue to try and I know you will reach your weightloss goal as well*

Limiting your portion intake is important. It isn’t always WHAT you eat; it’s HOW MUCH you eat. Finding ways to take away the hunger cravings will be the key to success. I’ve done minor changes to my eating habits like limiting portions, changing our food palette and jogging on the weekends has allowed me to lose 12 lbs in 3 weeks. I drink hot tea during the day and if need be, I nibble on saltine crackers and that prevents me from being hungry all day. It all depends on you and your life style. What works for one may not work for all.
Universal trick that does work for everyone is to increase the amount of water each day. This helps to process food faster. I’ve heard that chewing gum can help speed up your metabolism. I’ve also heard that the same is true for eating juniper berries. The natural elements in the berry help to prepare your stomach for food processing.
Good luck Jacquie! Get as much moral support as you can and it will go like butter.

Good job, Jacquie! Keep it up!
In general, when it comes to losing baby weight, I have found that nursing can be your best friend. As someone who nursed my second (and final!) baby for 19 months, I know it can be the easiest way to shed all those pounds. If you’re already done, though, hats off to you for working so hard on diet and exercise!

Junipers grow like crazy near where I live, and they have lots of berries on them, for sure (they look like blueberries). I have never looked into their edibility (real word?). Interesting stuff.
