Actress Jaime Pressly Releases Spring/Summer 2008 Collection

Posted by Leeann at 1:58 pm

Jaime Pressly

In addition to being a mother and a cast member of the wildly-popular television show “My Name is Earl,” Jaime Pressly is also a top-notch designer. Her classic style, mixed with fashionable flare, is evident in her newest line the J’aime Collection (which was originally debuted during LA Fashion Week this past October 2007). This venture is a spin-off of J’aime by Jaime Pressly, and it definitely appeals to the fabulous.

To get a better understanding of what is it to be an emerging talent in the fashion world, I went directly to the source — Jaime herself. Check out what the super-talent had to say:

Leeann: As a mother and an actress on a successful TV program, how do you find the time to be a designer as well?

Jaime: “I have a great team! My advice to any smart businesswoman is to hire even smarter people to work with you. Time management is also extremely important. All of my girls wear more than one hat and multi-tasking is key.”

L: What inspired you to create this line?

J: As a new mom, I was inspired by easy and wearable fashion. Being in the industry that I am in, I have to look polished at all times, even when I don’t feel up to it. So this collection feels great, it’s super comfy but looks like you really spent time on yourself.”

L: o you think that being such a well-known actress helped or hindered your venture into fashion design?

J: “I do. Recently I have taken my name off of the label. It’s now J’aime Collection instead of J’aime by Jaime Pressly. Fashion is a whole new ball game and I felt like buyers were overwhelmed and unimpressed with so many of the other “celebrity-turned designers” so it was hindering our brand. We have a great product and I didn’t want people to make judgments based on anything other then the quality and design of our garments.”

Ruffled-Tie Neck Dress of the J'aime Collection

L: What type of consumer was the J’aime Collection designed for?

J: “There is something in my collection for every demographic. Since “My Name is Earl” caters to such a large audience, I wanted to mimic that in my clothing line. I take each trend and mold it to fit all body shapes. Shift mini’s for the women that love their legs but hate their bellies, tailored shapes for those who want to accentuate their curves, and halters for the women that have a great bust and want to show some skin!”

L: Are you doing a show at LA Fashion Week again? And, what can we expect?

J: “We do an event every October during LA Fashion Week benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It’s always a star-studded event and lots of fun. We have raised over $100,000 over the last couple of years and will continue to do so.”

Now out are her Spring/Summer 2008 pieces, easy to wear for various occasions. Filled with cute dresses that undoubtedly will be admired by all, the J’aime Collection is currently available in high-end boutiques and on www.jaimeclothing.com.

One item that I fell in love with upon first sight is the “Ruffled Tie-Neck Dress” (the printed mini featured in pic). With a timeless design, this little number is sure to stay in style for yeas to come. And because we appreciate the support of all of our readers, we are giving this dress away to one lucky gal! I know, I know, I’m far too generous. No, but really, this is just a token to say thank you for visiting Beauty Chat.

To enter for this fabulous gift, simply leave a comment as to what fashion-related topic you would like me to cover next. Winners will be chosen on Friday, February 29 (and the dress will be ordered in your size to ensure that it fits).

Good luck everyone!

I would love to see an article on all these “fashion for the masses” lines becoming available. I mean Vera Wang for Khols, countless designers at Target, Oscar De La Renta for H&M… what’s next? Is this a GOOD development, or does this make brands less appealing because EVERYONE has them. Also, are these really designer lines at cheap prices, or are these lines just the designers names plastered onto our same old Target clothes. I’m really curious to hear your thoughts and see an article on this topic! (And of course I’d really like to win!!!!)

Oh my gosh! I love that woman. She is such an inspiration. Leeann~what a great interview! Hats off to you! In the future I would love to see you cover shorts. There are so many lengths, shapes and sizes and it’s all so confusing. What’s in, what’s out~the right length for your body shape, etc.

I know I’m not qualified to enter, but just wanted to say that I’ve loved Jamie Pressly’s style and good taste since her home was featured on MTV Cribs, and that was years before My Name is Earl…I remember coveting her “couch-slash-bed.” Loved it!

What cute and fashionable dresses in this line, you presented it so well. There are so many great styles coming out that are now afforable. Styles change so quickly we need your continual coverage to be aware of what’s new. I look forward to your comments on what is new for this summer.

A particular topic I’d love to see covered is jeans – in particular wide-legged jeans! Skinny jeans have become so ubiquitous now that I’m really getting bored of them (and to be honest, I’m still not entirely sure I look that good in them!). I’m loving the wide-legged pants look – particularly with heels – and it would be nice to hear if you had any tips before I go investing my hard-earned cash on a pair. For example, what body types they suit, who should avoid them, and what to wear with them to make up a great outfit. Thanks for the great contest, it’s a beautiful dress.

I am so glad that this new line targets Women with real lives and bodies. I am tired of wearing old people clothes. It is so hard to find nice looking clothes without breaking the bank. Love the article.

Wow, I am happy that Jamie Presley has been able to spread out her talent, not just with acting, but with clothes now too. I would love for you to do an blog on maternity fashion. It’s very hard to dress cute while prego and still stay on budget. I think it would be a challange, but very helpful to woman who are pregnant and still want to look fashionable.

Would love to see more on cosmeceuticals! (e.g. N.V. Perricone’s new Ceramic Eye Smoother, Dr. Brandt’s new Laser Lightning System, the Tanda Skincare System, Elemis’s new Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream, etc.) And, of course, with spring coming, bronzers and SPF lotions and moisturizers. I’m not getting any younger. H-E-L-P!!

Leeann, you’ve always managed to surprise me, but what a great interview! If I could have you write about anything in fashion next, I would like to read about colletctions, or styles in general that can take you from day to night with minor changes. I love dressing up both in the day and night, but I hate having to come home and changed my entire outfit becuase we’re going out. I’d love to see more styles that can go from day time to night time with small changes:)!
