A hair transplant is NOT something I am in need of. My hair is so thick that it could be mistaken for a horse tail. So being able to manage my mane is something I struggle with every day! Between the washing, the drying, and the styling, it can take me over an hour to complete my daily routine.
I go through my styling and hair care products like they are water. I am always looking for the next best thing when it comes to my personal care needs.
So the fabulous new addition to my routine: The ProSilk Ceramic + Far Infrared Dryer with Ion Technology. Talk about amazing, this dryer seems to dry my massive mane in HALF the time my old Conair dryer did. I went from a 45-minute dry session to an 18-minute dry session! More »

Two things I don’t bother keeping secret: 1) I’m over 30 (gasp!), and 2) I love organic personal care products. Recently, I came across two new brands, each of them with a product relevant to one of the aforementioned facts.

First, I was introduced to the Anti-Aging Leave in Treatment 3a from pHormulate. Since I hadn’t used a leave-in treatment in an awfully long time, I forgot what I was missing! Reconstruction, UV protection, breakage prevention…the list goes on. But, because of the name of this particular product, you may be wondering: Is there really such thing as an anti-aging hair product? Well, the people at pHormulate figured out one thing that I had never even thought of: Hair loses sugar, and increases in salt, as it gets older! Apparently, the sugar contributes to a smoother texture, while the salt causes a drying effect (in other words, too much of it is bad). So, their ChromaGuard Technology sets out to correct that. And, while I obviously can’t measure the sugar content in my hair, it appears to do its job. More »

With everyone and everything “Going Green” these days, I did not want to be left behind. Although I own my “Green” car (a Toyota Prius, which I love) and I make sure that I buy energy-efficient appliances, I never really gave my skin care that extra-conscious thought until now.
So I started doing my research on what is actually in some of the products I use, and it is amazing how many things I cannot pronounce! Well, I found a company that is fabulous and specializes in natural skin care: Noodle & Boo. I am big on tag lines, and this one was great:
Think: glow – ol – o – gy (n.) the art of celebrating the beauty in every woman

Welcome! Beauty Chat’s look has received a makeover! Redesigned in a new package, our blog is back in a big way. Beauty Chat originally developed June 1, 2007 with just our technical guru (Randy) and me launching its birth. One of the newest sister sites to PlasticSurgery.com, iEnhance.com, and CosmeticSurgery.com, Beauty Chat’s identity stands unique. While we make it a point to address plastic surgery-related topics as they pertain to your interest, we also make it a point to unite everyone who shares the idea that beauty is a universal concept and means different things to different people.
And now: Beauty Chat is pushing the end of its ninth month, with seven contributors, its own talented designer (Khevna), and a loyal readership reaching international grounds. We are very proud of this moment, as we hope that you find the new navigation pleasant, and the look an appealing stamp of modern beauty.
Therefore, in celebration of our relaunch, we are holding a contest. We would like a reader to rename our “Giveaway” page into something more creative! By entering this contest, you have a chance to win a fabulous package of personal care items, worth over $150. Please e-mail us your idea. We will choose the winner of our contest on April 1st.

Hairstylists are some of the most fashion forward people I know. They help us to achieve and show off our personal styles. But have you ever noticed that they have to wear some of the most unfashionable smocks and aprons?
Well, look for the frumpy stylists no more! Beauty Chat is happy to introduce Hairwearsmocks.com, co-founded by Gina Coale, a veteran hairstylist of 22 years. Gina has designed and produced six different styles of smocks and aprons for both men and woman. I recently spoke with Gina on her creations:
JF: Why did you create Hair Wear Smocks?
GC: I finally decided to make my own designs because for the entire 22 years, they have had the ugliest smocks and aprons! Very unflattering, no matter what your size, you always seem to look like you are wearing a trash bag! I could never find anything more attractive…so I had said for years that I would just have to create my own designs, and I did. I also wanted something that I liked wearing.
Of course the main benefit being that if you like what you are wearing, you tend to keep it on all day protecting your clothes from color and chemicals. More »

(Jana, this one’s for you!)
Although I have never been pregnant, I do have many friends who are mothers. So, I know the struggles that women go through when trying to find clothing to wear while they’re carrying a child. Having a baby is a joyous occasion, and finding fashionable clothing shouldn’t damper the experience.
Things have changed dramatically since our mothers carried us. While basic cotton tees and bulky pants were the norm, say 20 or 30 years ago, women now expect designers to produce garments that are attractive. Boring doesn’t fly anymore with the consumers of our day and age.
In fact, many maternity tops can easily be mistaken for trendy, fashionable items (think the popular flowing, babydoll shirts that are in right now). The goal is to help women look good in their clothing, with the special details that embrace pregnancy in subtle, chic styles versus plain and practical. More »

I have always been self-conscious of my lips; they lack pigment and plump. I have looked into various options, such as lip augmentation, lip plumpers, even permanent cosmetics. So in my journey for the ultimate lip gloss, I am determined to find one that is perfect on all levels. If you are anything like me, you cannot live without soft lips.
After trying virtually every lip gloss product out there, I decided to create specific criteria that my ideal lip gloss needs to fall in line with:
1) It can’t be sticky
2) It must be pleasant to the taste
3) It should only carry a hint of color
4) It can’t be thick
5) It must fit nicely in my small purse and pocket

Direct sales beauty companies are a time-tested cultural institution, and today, there may be one for every letter of the alphabet. From Arbonne to the soon-to-debut Votre Vu, there’s no shortage of cosmetic companies available to help women supplement income, each with their own unique niche. Even the socially-conscious company that was a personal fave in my teen years, The Body Shop, now has a party plan division called The Body Shop at Home.
For companies like Avon, Jafra, and Mary Kay, who have been household names for decades, their female-dominated history is incorporated into their mission statements. For example, Avon is “The company for women,” while Mary Kay is “Enriching women’s lives.”
But can women really succeed with an old school beauty business model? Tana Goertz, who you may remember as the runner-up on Season 3 of “The Apprentice,” says yes! A Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant since 2000, Tana says that her TV casting, and subsequent success as a motivational speaker and author, are absolutely related to her success within the Mary Kay company. In fact, on her Apprentice audition tape, “I walked around a car dealership, selling my basket full of Mary Kay products to the sales guys – no women – and I didn’t leave until I sold them all!” More »

Beauty Chatters are always on the lookout for awesome items and fabulous places to go! In my quest to expose you to the hidden gems of the fashion world, I present American Rock & Royalty (AR&R) — a retail store that can certainly boost up your wardrobe’s attitude.
And for one lucky reader, you’ll get to sport one of their stylish tees!
Opened in Gilroy, Calif. in November 2006 by Paulo and Denise (a husband and wife duo), the mission was, in Paulo’s words, “To cater to the fashionista.” But men are also fans of the store. At AR&R, the latest trends are offered in a region that doesn’t necessarily provide the most diverse clothing brands.
