Skeptics Beware: Anti-Aging and Organic Hair Care Products are for Real!

Posted by Brook at 1:33 pm

Two things I don’t bother keeping secret: 1) I’m over 30 (gasp!), and 2) I love organic personal care products. Recently, I came across two new brands, each of them with a product relevant to one of the aforementioned facts.

pHormulate Hair Care Products

First, I was introduced to the Anti-Aging Leave in Treatment 3a from pHormulate. Since I hadn’t used a leave-in treatment in an awfully long time, I forgot what I was missing! Reconstruction, UV protection, breakage prevention…the list goes on. But, because of the name of this particular product, you may be wondering: Is there really such thing as an anti-aging hair product? Well, the people at pHormulate figured out one thing that I had never even thought of: Hair loses sugar, and increases in salt, as it gets older! Apparently, the sugar contributes to a smoother texture, while the salt causes a drying effect (in other words, too much of it is bad). So, their ChromaGuard Technology sets out to correct that. And, while I obviously can’t measure the sugar content in my hair, it appears to do its job.

Organix Hair Care Products

Now, as far as organic hair products go, I can’t blame anyone for being skeptical. After all, we don’t see many of them. But when I found the Organix line of hair products, which are sulfate free and contain active organic ingredients, it was love at first sight (or is that scent – they do smell incredible!). I have the Vanilla Silk Blow Dry Cream, which contains shea butter, silk proteins, and even silicone (organic silicone?!). And indeed, it gave me noticeable protection from thermal damage. But, I can’t wait to get my hands on their other varieties, especially the Mocha Espresso and Pomegranate Green Tea. Oooo, and also the Healing Mandarin Olive Oil. I guess that makes three things I don’t keep secret: I love to cook. Who would have thought that hair care could be relevant to that?

Admittedly, serious hair care is something I’ve slacked on for the last few years. But every time I try something new, I get inspired to start again. Have you tried anything recently that encouraged you to take better care of your hair?
