Okay, what I’m about to tell you may be shocking so don’t get crazy…I’m not a Sex and the City fan. Before you jump to conclusions and assume that I’m out of my mind, let me explain. It’s not that I dislike the show and am dreading the movie premiere, it’s just that I never got into it. So, you can categorize me as a girl who doesn’t know what she’s missin’.
Despite the fact that I know little to nothing about the characters, I do know that their fashion is superb, despite the sometimes out-there outfits. The few clips that I have seen of the pop culture phenom (television and movie) reflect the couture styles that most women only dream of draping themselves in. However, the clothes may be more easily attained than you think.

Take, for example, this Maggy London Printed Silk Dress. Miranda is pictured in it above, and you can purchase it for $150 on Dillards.com. So maybe the wardrobes of the Sex and the City starlets aren’t outrageously priced. More »

As I enter my early 30s (yikes, it hurts to say that), I realize that I am in desperate need for a good skincare regimen. I have never really used a formal skincare program. I wash my face in the shower and use cleansing towelettes at night, but eye cream and toners were never part of my facial to-do list, until now.
I have been using the Somme Institute 5-step skincare program for the past 4 weeks and I would just like to say, I am hooked! I can’t believe how nice my skin looks. I have noticed a bit more oiliness than before, but I attribute that to better hydration.

The 5-step system for the Somme Institute skincare line consists of: More »

It seems like just yesterday: I was thumbing through my favorite magazine in search of new hairstyles, only to find myself in utter disbelief at the sight of the outrageously tall, untamed do’s worn by most of the models. I think the year was 1989…no, wait – it really was only yesterday!

The magazine: Marie Claire. The models: Otherwise lovely girls that walked in recent Marc Jacobs and Roberto Cavalli shows. And for the record, that 80s comment isn’t meant to be catty. It’s just that something about looking at these styles instantly transports me back to that era, when fashion magazines featured photos of hairstyles most women wouldn’t dream of emulating in real life.

Last Thursday, fellow Beauty Chatters Jacquie, Leeann, and I — along with our PlasticSurgery.com co-worker Stephanie — attended Shecky’s Girls Night Out in Santa Monica. As we embarked on our two hour trip through rush hour traffic and rain, little did we know what they had in store for us at the event.
As we entered the Barker Hangar, turned fashion extravaganza, we were blown away with the number of women shoppers and vendors surrounding us. Filled with fun, drinks, clothes, jewelry, handbags, and the latest trends, Shecky’s was truly a night to remember.

(Jacquie, Sarah, and Leeann)
Our first mission was to pick up our complimentary totes, which were filled with a variety of products for the skin, face, body, and mind. After acquiring our free goodies, we slowly made our way through the crowd of anxious fashion lovers. With items marked down 10 to 75 percent off their original prices, we tried to scout out the deals we found most alluring. More »
