(Angelina Jolie ~ before and after)
I think it’s pretty much safe to say yes, celebrities still heavily influence the growth and popularity of plastic surgery trends. In addition, Reality TV such as Dr. 90210 has played a major role in the public seeing firsthand the “reality” behind plastic surgery; and for many people, this has inspired them to go forward and undergo some sort of improvement.

(Paris Hilton ~ before and after)

(Paula Adbul ~ before and after)
Also editor of PlasticSurgery.com and iEnhance.com, I have spoken to several plastic surgeons throughout the country about their patients and the initial consultation sitting. Yes, interviewing doctors regarding various topics, from saline vs. silicone gel breast implants to butt enhancement surgery, has been part of busy job here. And during my phone interviews, I’ve learned just how common it is for a man or woman (more often it seems to be the female patients) to bring in pictures of the celebrity they wish to emulate – somehow. Whether it is Angelina Jolie’s lips, Jennifer Lopez’ butt, or Hale Berry’s breasts – these cosmetic and plastic surgeons have heard it all. Naturally, that gets me thinking about the trends and statistics in plastic surgery – both non-surgical and surgical procedures. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), here are some 2007 stats:
The most popular surgical procedures among men in 2007 were:
• Liposuction
• Eyelid surgery
• Nose surgery
• Breast reduction (to treat enlarged male breasts)
• Hair transplantation
The most popular surgical procedures among women in 2007 were:
• Breast augmentation
• Liposuction
• Eyelid surgery
• Abdominoplasty
• Breast reduction

(Fergie ~ before and after)

(Rihanna ~ before and after)
Oh, and did I mention that Americans spent just under $13.2 BILLION on cosmetic plastic surgery alone last year? While critics may deem Americans superficial, those of us who work very closely to this field tend to share the similar point of view, which is rooted in the philosophy behind Beauty Chat: “Look Good, Feel Good, and Speak On It!”

(Matt Dillon ~ before and after)

(Bruce Jenner ~ before and after)
It’s all a matter of taste, preference, and influence. That’s why I thought it would be fun to post some before and after plastic surgery photos of celebrities.
Now, I’ve got a question for you, which of your favorite stars has the most natural-looking plastic surgery results? I have my fave (Gwen Stefani), but I want to know yours too!

Great article! I love seeing the celebrity transformations due to plastic surgery. And it is amazing how much money is spent on these procedures each year. I believe the celebrity that looks the most natural to me is Ashlee Simpson. I think her new nose looks natural and complimentary to her face.

Thanks for an interesting, informative article. I liked seeing the transformation pictures of the celebs. The amount spent on plastic surgery is mind boggling.

Sadly, the trends in plastic surgery is another reflection of how our society is overly focused on physical standards of beauty – but I admit that if I had the money, I would spend it on my aging face

ack, that should be “trend”

I think as long as the individual understands all that is involved with their procedure(s) of choice, plastic surgery doesn’t have to be a bad thing. HOWEVER, and this a big HOWEVER, their is such thing as plastic surgery addiction and taking it way too far!!!

Some of these pictures are clearly celebrities in their teen years and then many years later, and obviously there would be a difference in their appearances after such a long time. Also the picture of Rhianna looks the same!

Well I believe in plastic surgery if NEEDED. If someone is very depressed in the way they look its their choice to proceed. I do hate when people become addicted (Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Rivers..etc) Oh and that picture of Rhianna (spelling?)is no diffrence…obviously she has a push up or that pic is taken lower than the other.

I like Fergie’s before picture more. she does look innocent. Rihanna is wearing a push up, but the diffrence is that she got a nose job. I CANT believe thats Angie!

To me, Some of the pictures above don’t look as if they’ve had plastic surgery. I know that I look drastically different from when I was a young teen to now in my late 20’s, and I’ve never had a single thing done to me. I think that our society focuses on beauty a little too much. I mean, yes, appearances do matter. We can’t kid ourselves. But at what point will we stop and say…enough is enough? We’re already injecting bacteria into our faces. whats next?

What a difference 20 years makes. It’s not reasonable to show pics of people in high school and then compare them to how they look now. I haven’t had plastic surgery, yet by these “examples” you’d think I’d had lots of work done. Now yes, have the above mentioned celebs had work? Probably some. But the ravages of time cause more changes than anything else.
