(Kat Von D — up close and personal)
Ever since her days on Bravo’s “Miami Ink,” I have found it hard to not be a fan of Kat Von D. Why? Because she is passionate about what she creates and breaks all stereotypes of what most of society may regard a tattoo artist to be like. She’s female, girly, gorgeous, and now – a Reality TV star turned a sought-after Hollywood celebrity. So of course when I heard about the creative merge of Sephora and the famous LA Ink tattoo artist and owner of High Voltage Tattoo – I wanted to scream (in excitement, of course!). I always thought that Kat’s makeup was fabulous and her fashion sense was shockingly cool. And now, I’m proud to say that I have three of pieces of her new collection that add a classic, yet edgy, style to what I already have in my makeup bag.
(Update your makeup collection with “old-Hollywood glamour and modern-L.A. edge.”)
My new favorite makeup products from the new Kat Von D line from Sephora are:
• Painted Love Lipstick in Hellbent (blood red)
• True Romance Eyeshadow Palette – Ludwig
• Autograph Eyeliner in Immortal Brown (deep matte brown)
I actually felt honored to wear this makeup because it has so much of her personality literally imprinted, like tattoo designs, on each case. I have been wearing just one application of the Painted Love Lipstick each morning to work, which is more pinkish than red. (Because I have a deep red M.A.C. lipstick already, that’s just fine…) And although it wears off a bit after I eat, I prefer this lipstick for evenings out (when I can really wear a bright shade on my lips) than work days. The True Romance Eyeshadow Palette has eight shades to enjoy, with the cutest of names: Tequila (metallic cornsilk shimmer), Baroque (golden bronze shimmer), Orbi (golden green shimmer), and Leather (deep chocolate brown sheen).
And as for the Autograph Eyeliner, the brown basically blends with my skin tone. But for work, that’s perfect as it isn’t too heavy. Thank heavens for “Dre,” our Beauty Chatter makeup junkie. She told me how a color such as purple on top of the bronze-like liner will really make the color pop when I want to make a statement!
So, the only thing left to say is not from me, but from Kat Von D herself. Check out this YouTube video of her talking about the development of the line. If you’re not a fan of this tattooed queen, I’m thinking you will be after this clip:

Did anyone see “The Jimmy Fallon Show” Monday night, with Kat as the guest? She had an outrageous outfit with shreded pants all the way up to her hips to show off the tattoos! It was pretty tacky, but still showed off her personality. I think she could cut back on the pale face and heavy makeup look, cause she is naturally gorgeous. But still, love her!

After seeing how she treats other people on her show, and how childish she is I would never purchase anything from her
