There is a rigorous process to become board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The board requires written and oral examinations and reviews every operative case that a plastic surgeon performs for 7 months to determine their competentcy. Each patient needs to be aware of their plastic surgeons board certified status prior to any cosmetic surgery.
