I love visiting my hairdresser June for a good ‘ol flat iron run-through. She has always smoothed it out with the greatest of ease, and never fails to be amused by me afterwards. Hello – don’t you like to flip your hair over your shoulders in slow motion like those Pantene commercials? OK, well maybe that’s just me.

( “Me with rocker hair — wild and without the use of my flat iron!”)
Really though, for years I just couldn’t straighten my hair myself, nor would I even dare try to do so in the Southern California summertime heat. My mom and I have different hair texture (my mother is Caucasian), so using her cute curling iron back then barely did the trick. Had I known that having the right type of flat iron actually matters, I could have saved nearly $2,500!!! That is the amount I spent on my hair for two years wearing long braids, which was basically my way out of not having to truly put time into doing my hair.
But now I have the right tools to straighten my hair when I’m not wearing a scarf or a bandana (I love the bohemian look, but pretty much, it’s another way I can avoid doing my hair). These days, I switch off between the two most fabulous hair tools around – my ceramic Pink Chi Flat Iron by Farouk and my ceramic Corioliss 1” Black Flat Iron –Classic. They are both wonderful, but lately I’ve been leaning more toward the Corioliss for this main reason: I don’t drop it when I’m using it! My Chi flat iron gets really hot on the outside and I am known to drop it on my feet…or in the sink…or on the counter. But the Corioliss flat iron has adjustable heat, and has a sort of rubber on the outside that makes it a little more comfortable to use.

(“Me on a good hair day…is that why I’m smiling?”)
They are both a toss-up, but one doesn’t outweigh the other so much that I plan to give one away anytime soon. Especially my pink flat iron – it looks so cute in my bathroom! As for both of them, they are on the costly side. However, if you use them often, they are both definitely worth it.

And on Misikko.com, you will get them at a great cost. The Chi flat iron is marked down from $175 to $119.95, and the Corioliss flat iron is marked down from $100 to $79.99. Yes, still a bit costly, but you will receive 2-day free shipping when you purchase either product. Oh, and one of my favorite features on Misikko.com is their “Beauty Tips.” I love that this company provides educational material as you shop! Had I read “How to Use a Flat Iron” before I decided to spend a fortune on braids…um, yeah.
