Over the weekend, my boyfriend Sean, fellow Beauty Chatter Leeann, my brother Greg, and I joined the vast masses of people assembled at theaters across the country to get a chance to see the highly anticipated movie, “The Dark Knight.”
And, after a successful second try of waiting in line for two hours, we were finally fortunate enough to see the movie from the best seats in the house. Packed full of men, women, and children, the movie began with an applaud from theater goers like myself who had waited for what seemed like an eternity for the sequel to “Batman Begins.”

A two and a half hour movie, “The Dark Knight” kept me at the edge of my seat the entire showing. First introduced to the new villain of the movie, the Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger, I was excited to see the new interpretation of the character. Flaunting a purple suit, green vest, infamous red, black, and white face makeup, green hair, and eerie facial scars on both sides of his mouth, the Joker presented an evil side, with a kooky sense of humor. Trying to rid Gotham of the “bat man,” the Joker keeps the city and Batman at bay for most of the film.
Realizing he must become quicker, and gain more flexibility, in order to defeat the enemies of Gotham, Batman has a new suit constructed. More realistic and bendable than the suit that Christian Bale wore in the last film, Lindy Hemming, costume designer for the film, hits one out of the ballpark with the latest design. Constructed out of over 200 rubber prices, fiberglass, metallic mesh, and nylon, Batman’s new suit is better able to mold to his body for additional mobility. With a new head piece also crafted after the design of a motorcycle helmet, Batman is able to move his head more than ever before.

Keeping the audience guessing at what is going to happen next, “The Dark Knight” offers viewers numerous shocking outcomes that will leave you saying, “Wow! Did that really just happen?” With the elimination of a few main characters, and the creation of a few new ones you’ll love to hate, this film provides audience members with a chance to submerse themselves in the classic battle of good vs. evil
Riveted by the new, daring storyline, the tremendous acting done by all members of the cast, and the amazingly crafted costumes, I will be first in line to buy the DVD when it comes out as well. The film may best be described as a flurry of action, and spectacularly dressed heroes and villains.
So if you aren’t one of the thousands that have already contributed to the $155 million that “The Dark Knight” has made over the weekend, I suggest you do!

Being an avid Batman fan, I’d have to say that this was the best one so far. Great review, Sarah!

Great movie! For the longest time my favorite superhero was Spiderman. I think I am now the most recent member of the Batman club.
The only aspect I did not like was Maggie Gyllenhal (I know that was spelled wrong)playing Rachel, Katie Holmes played a better role in Batman Begins. Other than that, I really enoyed it. Awesome review Sarah!

Not getting to see the movie the first night (after getting there an hour early), then waiting in line for two hours the next day, was a little crazy, but we had a great time, didn’t we Sarah? The movie wasn’t exactly all that I expected, but then again it was publicized so much that I probably built it up too big in my head. However; I would recommend the film to others…just maybe once the lines die down

Thanks Jennifer and Sara! Yeah the film was great, and I too liked Katie Holmes better in the role of Rachel.
We did have a fun time Leeann! Especially getting to see all the people in theater dressed up as the Joker! But yes, it might be better to see the film maybe during the day when the lines aren’t so long. =)
