How many times have you tried to change your hair, makeup, or style? While Madonna may be the cause for so much focus on change, sometimes it’s best to stick with what works.
This is something I’ve only recently learned and it only took me about 10 years to figure it out!
My “problem” has always been my pin straight hair. At one point I hated my straight hair so much that I even got a perm. However, because my hair was so long, it was hard to manage and didn’t look the way I thought it would.
No matter how much hairspray I use or how long I let the curling iron sizzle on my hair, the ringlets fall out in less than two hours. Which is about how long it took me to curl them…a very frustrating experience.
Not wanting to spend so much time on my hair one morning, I decided to use the flat iron instead and just
go with a sleek look. Imagine how surprised I was when all day I kept getting compliments! Everyone asked what was different, was it my makeup? Nope, I just decided to finally give in to my super straight strands.
Now that I know what works I feel a little more confident with my entire look. So now I wonder why everyone is always trying to change? Natural curls are gorgeous, yet every woman I know spends a lot of time and money on straightening them out.
Instead of changing it, embrace it…own it. Your natural beauty is much more attractive.
How about everyone else? Have you ever tried something new that just didn’t work out?

What a great idea for an article.
I found that once I stopped fighting with my hair, and embracing it, things got a lot easier. It took me a long while to figure out how to treat them right, but my curls have never been happier.

I have the exact same problem with poke straight hair as you. I’ve spent years doing all sorts of things to try and get some life into it and am currently growing out my layers to go back to my straight ways. Never tried the straighteners though

Tell Brian the pic came out really good. You know about my medusa hair. I’ve been finding ways to make it work, but I still straighten it if I have somewhere nice to go. It’s just easier and I know it will look nice. If I do leave it curly and wild, there’s a 50% chance it won’t dry the way I hope it will. Do you know of any products that are specifically designed to help curly hair?

Stinkerella- I don’t have any specific products, but I do have a Web site you might find useful: http://www.naturallycurly.com
Hope it helps!

Stinkerella-I have curly hair myself and sometimes I find it easier to half dry my hair with a blowdryer with the diffuser attachment while using my hands to create the curl I want. I have kind of thin, curly hair, but maybe it will work for you. I like to add just a dab of this straightening serum I have by Paul Mitchell before blowdrying too! It’s just a suggestion…=)

Be true to yourself and you’ll never be disappointed. Curly hair is beautiful! It can take a little extra work but it’s sooo worth it. I found that sleeping on a satin pillowcase REALLY made a big difference in my hair but also with my skin. Your hair just glides across the top. Cotton causes friction, which weakens hair and causes frizzies and split ends. I found a site that had satin pillowcases in prints, not just solids. They have a page on their site that talks about all the benefits of sleeping on a satin pillowcase. The company is A Touch Of Satin and thier website is http://www.atouchofsatin.com Give them a look and let me know what you think. I’m sure it will help you. I’ve noticed a huge difference.
