Purely Cosmetics

Posted by Jennifer at 4:08 pm

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I love makeup and trying new stuff out. I haven’t really gotten into the mineral makeup too much, but Beauty Chat recently got the opportunity to try out Purely Cosmetics.

They offer products that are free of corn starch, oils, FD&C dyes, preservatives, talc, and bismuth oxychloride, which has been known to irritate skin and is sometimes found in other mineral makeup.

My fellow “Beauty Chatters” also tried their products, here’s what they had to say:

Audrey:
The cream eye shadow did not go on well and was easily wiped off. It would be very effective for someone who is looking to do a rich coated “Mac” eye look, as the color is very bright and defined.

The powder eye shadow worked better and gave even coverage, although I was not able to produce the same thick “Mac” effect with it as I could with the cream.

Elana:
The primer and foundation of Purely Cosmetics felt like I wasn’t wearing makeup, which is a great benefit of mineral makeup. I usually wear Cover Girl, MAC, and Sephora’s Kat Von D makeup, so this line was a new direction. Both products can be worked in with my other regulars, as they are basics.

Sara:
I tried the face powder foundation (neutral light) and the cream eye shadow (rose beige and jeweled emerald). Unfortunately, the foundation did not match up to my face color; I didn’t like how it was somewhat chalky, and it didn’t go on very smooth. I liked the eye shadow colors that I tried, especially the jeweled emerald, it was a glossy green color; however, when I went to apply it on my eyes I didn’t like how I had to rub my make-up brush hard to get enough eye shadow on and the color did not last all day. I did like how it was light feeling when I wore it, I don’t like the feeling of heavy make-up on my eyes.

Jacquie:
I did not like the coverage of the concealer, but loved the color of the eye shadow.

Stephanie:
When using loose powder eye shadows I feel like I get it everywhere. When I apply the loose eye shadow by Purely Cosmetics I don’t seem to have the problem. The eye shadow seems to last all day. Evening Plum is my favorite!

Dre:
I used Purely Cosmetic’s Skin Smoothing Foundation in Sunkissed and Cream to Powder eye shadow in Evening Plum. The foundation worked very nicely. It covered spots and blemishes with just the right amount of coverage and left my skin feeling smooth. I absolutely loved the color of the eye shadow. It was a deep purple with a touch of green/gold shimmer. It was the best cream eye shadow I have tried yet. Due to the oily skin, I just had to use less eye shadow primer and brush on a translucent powder over my eyelids to set the eye shadow.

Jennifer:
The foundation gave my skin a grey tone to it and didn’t go on as smoothly as I am used to with other foundations. I loved the colors for the eye shadows (golden and copper) but wasn’t able to blend them well enough; when I gently ran my finger across my lids it came off instantly.

Looks like we all had a very different experience! Check out the Purely Cosmetics site to learn more about this line.

I haven’t tried this line of mineral makeup, but I love Bare Minerals and I’m someone who has tried just about every foundation there is! I have actually stayed with this product for over 4 years which is a record for me.

I recommend you try Hot Pants Cosmetics mineral make-up as well. There are endless color combinations and it lasts for half a day without having to touch up. I highly recommend it!
