Marilyn Monroe: More than a Distant Memory

Posted by Leeann at 8:16 am

In addition to being my 25th birthday, today marks the anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death. On August 5, 1962, Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood, California, home. There are many speculations as to the cause of her departure, and I am a firm believer in the conspiracy theories (especially the one involving Bobby Kennedy), but I won’t get into that!

Movie Review- "The Dark Knight"

Posted by Sarah at 3:58 pm

Over the weekend, my boyfriend Sean, fellow Beauty Chatter Leeann, my brother Greg, and I joined the vast masses of people assembled at theaters across the country to get a chance to see the highly anticipated movie, “The Dark Knight.”

And, after a successful second try of waiting in line for two hours, we were finally fortunate enough to see the movie from the best seats in the house. Packed full of men, women, and children, the movie began with an applaud from theater goers like myself who had waited for what seemed like an eternity for the sequel to “Batman Begins.”

Brigitte Nielsen’s New Reality TV Adventure: Cosmetic Surgery

Posted by Leeann at 4:14 pm

From The Surreal Life, to Strange Love and Celebrity Rehab, Brigitte Nielsen is certainly a VH1 Reality TV poster child. With almost every aspect of her “life” (who knows what is real?!) documented on the small screen, is it any surprise that she is now allowing cameras to film her while undergoing cosmetic surgery? And what’s more — on live television?

Own Your Catwalk!

Posted by Mellori at 10:34 am

Many of us Sex and the City enthusiasts are fond of the clever dialogue said throughout the six seasons of the iconic show – some of which just stuck. You might remember the words “Hello Lover” breathlessly uttered by Ms. Bradshaw. Well, this “lover” was handsome, irresistible and went by the name of Christian Louboutin.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s character is known for her effortless and daring sense of fashion that pushed certain style envelopes yet, more often than not, simply worked. More importantly, her taste for designer shoes was impeccable. Episode after episode, viewers would follow “Carrie” as she strutted down the streets of New York as if it was her own catwalk and without the slightest indication of pain. In the real day of a hardworking, on-the-go woman, this might not be so easy, not to mention every shoe has a time and a place.

Tarina Tarantino- Jewelry for the Princess in All of Us

Posted by Sarah at 4:07 pm

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated with everything Barbie ®. From dolls, to dresses, to tiaras I always loved to be adorned with the latest Barbie apparel.

Yet, as I grew older, Barbie apparel and accessories have seemed to become less available and in style for women my age. Of course, there are still the classic Barbie dolls available, which I love to collect, but there wasn’t anything readily available to brighten up my wardrobe the way that Barbie did.

Almost into my mid twenties, I still longed for the Barbie style to come back into fashion, and thanks to Tarina Tarantino ™, it has!

Crystal Barbie Tiara

Founded in 1995 by Tarina Tarantino and Alfonso Campos, the Tarina Tarantino jewelry line has breathed life into traditional jewelry design. Looking to make things sparkle in her own way, Tarina, along with then boyfriend and now husband Alfonso, created jewelry that was fun, beautiful, and expressed their creativity.
Starting off in small boutiques, Tarina Tarantino now has her own boutiques in California, New York, and even Italy where her line has flourished.

Do Celebrities Still Pave the Beauty Trends in Plastic Surgery?

Posted by Elana at 4:27 pm

Angelina Jolie
(Angelina Jolie ~ before and after)

I think it’s pretty much safe to say yes, celebrities still heavily influence the growth and popularity of plastic surgery trends. In addition, Reality TV such as Dr. 90210 has played a major role in the public seeing firsthand the “reality” behind plastic surgery; and for many people, this has inspired them to go forward and undergo some sort of improvement. Posted by Leeann at 8:45 am

I have been active in sports my entire life, so when I heard about MISSION Product ™, I was excited to try out their skincare products. Just released in May of this year, the line boasts a lineup of hard-hitting athletes involved with the innovation and development.

With supporters such as Steve Nash (two-time NBA MVP), Mia Hamm (Olympic gold medal soccer player), and Gretchen Bleiler (pro snowboarder, three-time X Games gold medalist), it’s hard to not to take notice.

According to Nash: “I’m really proud to be a founding athlete with MISSION Product. I use all of our first five products and they are outstanding.”

Dress Your Age!

Posted by Jennifer at 8:22 am

As a 20-something, it’s crucial to keep in style with the rest of those in our age group. We want to dress fashionably, classy, attractive, and age appropriate. With the media putting so much focus on this age bracket, it’s relatively easy to find something suitable for almost any occasion. Yet I still see a few ladies out there that seem to think that more skin equals better fashion. But I personally think that leaving a bit to the imagination is a lot more attractive than a super low-cut shirt and tight mini-skirt.
