Own Your Look

Posted by Jennifer at 9:01 am

How many times have you tried to change your hair, makeup, or style? While Madonna may be the cause for so much focus on change, sometimes it’s best to stick with what works.

This is something I’ve only recently learned and it only took me about 10 years to figure it out!

My “problem” has always been my pin straight hair. At one point I hated my straight hair so much that I even got a perm. However, because my hair was so long, it was hard to manage and didn’t look the way I thought it would. More »

TS-2 Detailer Tourmaline Mini Styling Iron

Posted by Leeann at 4:45 pm

I want to introduce you all to the most adorable hair straightener I have ever seen, the TS-2 Detailer Tourmaline Mini Styling Iron. Upon opening the package, I instantly fell in love with its petite demeanor and wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me.

You see, the Detailer is designed for pixie cuts like Victoria Beckham, not my long locks, which are similar to those Mandy Moore is currently sportin’. So, I enlisted the help of my friend Jana (who has a bob going on) to test out this precious iron to see if it’s just as useful as it is attractive. More »

Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Professional Brushes

Posted by Leeann at 10:26 am

I don’t know about you, but there are few things that I despise more than getting my hair tangled in a brush. This happens frequently when I brush through wet hair, causing some serious breakage.

Recently introduced to Olivia Garden, a brand of hair tools, I think I might have found a solution to my mane madness. I have been using the company’s Ceramic + Ion Professional Brushes and am quite pleased thus far.

Tassi — Free Your Face ™

Posted by Leeann at 8:47 am

Now that I have discovered the wonderfulness that is Tassi, it’s time to share!

Tassi is a stretchy terrycloth headband that can be used anytime you want your hair out of your face, be it applying or washing off makeup, taking a bath, or whatever other reasons you can think of.

I use my Tassi when I take a shower and don’t want to get my hair wet. Because the band is pretty thick, it holds my long locks really well AND shields my hair from the water without causing my strands to get creased like hair rubber bands and clips do. A big plus in my book.

You can purchase a Tassi for $14.99. Buy the product online, or look up the local stores that retail this nifty little headband.

Go ahead and buy yourself a Tassi. There’s a money back guarantee, so you’ve got nothing to lose!

WEN Your Hair Needs a Little TLC

Posted by Stephanie at 1:58 pm

While channel surfing late one night, I came across an infomercial introducing a new hair care line founded by Chaz Dean, WEN. These amazing products were said to help maintain color, shine and volume. It sounded a little crazy to me since they were claiming WEN is not considered a shampoo, but rather a cleansing conditioner that does not lather as other shampoos do. I had to ask myself, are they serious? WEN is healthy for my hair, won’t strip out the natural oils, plus it help to maintain its vibrancy?  This sounds like my type of product, sign me up!

Bad Hair Day? Not Anymore!

Posted by Jennifer at 7:51 am

If there were ever a support group for bad hair, my intro would go something like this, “My name is Jennifer and I am super lazy when it comes to my hair.” Then I would ask for an electric shaver to buzz it all off. Too drastic? Possibly, but allow me to explain.

While I have often received many compliments on my hair for it’s length, shine, and occasional volume, I went many years without actually doing anything to emphasis it’s natural beauty. I did dye it once and got it permed many years ago, but other than that, it’s all real. However, my biggest issue has been that it’s super straight. Not even a slight hint of a wave. I’ve tried different curling irons and rollers, yet have never been able to attain a great hairdo without tons of hairspray. And I hate using hair product, I like running my fingers through my hair and not getting stuck half way. More »
