Last Thursday, Beauty Chat contributors Sarah, Stephanie, and me had the pleasure of attending the debut event of The Luxe Life. This was a swanky affair held in Los Angeles, similar to Shecky’s Girls Night Out (which we also blogged about not long ago).

While recently attending the Total Beauty Blog Summit, I was introduced to the Cutler Fly-Away Control Stick. This product, as the title explains, works to control fly-away hairs. And it works magnificently!
According to the company, this stick combats frizziness and static, soothes the cuticles, and provides sleek and shiny hair. And with ingredients such as shea butter and essential oils, what isn’t there to love?
As soon as I saw the product, I had to try it out! Fellow Beauty Chat contributor, Denice, also took advantage of this fantastic fly-away control stick. Here are our thoughts: More »

I recently cut my long hair into a hip, Posh-like bob. With my new do, I find that I am constantly playing with and running my fingers through it. And after piling on the stress of the day — BAM! — greasy hair. This is normally not a huge issue, but it quickly becomes one when I want to go out after work. Rather than going home and redoing my hair, I needed to find a solution.
Enter Pocket Redo wipes by Jonathan. These are a fabulous find! According to Jonathan (yes, the Jonathan), he created these towelettes for convenience purposes. Here’s what he said, “On fashion shoots and runways, I don’t have time to rewash and restyle a model’s hair. So I mixed my own botanical water infusion mist, allowing me to rework and restyle sections of hair without shampooing. A mush have for my models and for you. And it’s great on skin too.”

It seems like just yesterday: I was thumbing through my favorite magazine in search of new hairstyles, only to find myself in utter disbelief at the sight of the outrageously tall, untamed do’s worn by most of the models. I think the year was 1989…no, wait – it really was only yesterday!

The magazine: Marie Claire. The models: Otherwise lovely girls that walked in recent Marc Jacobs and Roberto Cavalli shows. And for the record, that 80s comment isn’t meant to be catty. It’s just that something about looking at these styles instantly transports me back to that era, when fashion magazines featured photos of hairstyles most women wouldn’t dream of emulating in real life.

Hair care is important to all us, whether you have a fear of hair loss and you need for a hair transplant, or you just love to pamper your hair and scalp. So I am happy to say that I have a new favorite product that has really helped my dry, damaged and thinning hair.

(Photo Courtesy of Yes to Carrots)
Yes To Carrots is a company that uses the juice from orange colored produce, Dead Sea Mud, vitamins, and minerals in skin and hair care products. We all know these items can do amazing things inside our bodies, but who would have thought to put them in our hair?

A hair transplant is NOT something I am in need of. My hair is so thick that it could be mistaken for a horse tail. So being able to manage my mane is something I struggle with every day! Between the washing, the drying, and the styling, it can take me over an hour to complete my daily routine.
I go through my styling and hair care products like they are water. I am always looking for the next best thing when it comes to my personal care needs.
So the fabulous new addition to my routine: The ProSilk Ceramic + Far Infrared Dryer with Ion Technology. Talk about amazing, this dryer seems to dry my massive mane in HALF the time my old Conair dryer did. I went from a 45-minute dry session to an 18-minute dry session! More »

Two things I don’t bother keeping secret: 1) I’m over 30 (gasp!), and 2) I love organic personal care products. Recently, I came across two new brands, each of them with a product relevant to one of the aforementioned facts.

First, I was introduced to the Anti-Aging Leave in Treatment 3a from pHormulate. Since I hadn’t used a leave-in treatment in an awfully long time, I forgot what I was missing! Reconstruction, UV protection, breakage prevention…the list goes on. But, because of the name of this particular product, you may be wondering: Is there really such thing as an anti-aging hair product? Well, the people at pHormulate figured out one thing that I had never even thought of: Hair loses sugar, and increases in salt, as it gets older! Apparently, the sugar contributes to a smoother texture, while the salt causes a drying effect (in other words, too much of it is bad). So, their ChromaGuard Technology sets out to correct that. And, while I obviously can’t measure the sugar content in my hair, it appears to do its job. More »

Hairstylists are some of the most fashion forward people I know. They help us to achieve and show off our personal styles. But have you ever noticed that they have to wear some of the most unfashionable smocks and aprons?
Well, look for the frumpy stylists no more! Beauty Chat is happy to introduce Hairwearsmocks.com, co-founded by Gina Coale, a veteran hairstylist of 22 years. Gina has designed and produced six different styles of smocks and aprons for both men and woman. I recently spoke with Gina on her creations:
JF: Why did you create Hair Wear Smocks?
GC: I finally decided to make my own designs because for the entire 22 years, they have had the ugliest smocks and aprons! Very unflattering, no matter what your size, you always seem to look like you are wearing a trash bag! I could never find anything more attractive…so I had said for years that I would just have to create my own designs, and I did. I also wanted something that I liked wearing.
Of course the main benefit being that if you like what you are wearing, you tend to keep it on all day protecting your clothes from color and chemicals. More »
