(Angelina Jolie ~ before and after)
I think it’s pretty much safe to say yes, celebrities still heavily influence the growth and popularity of plastic surgery trends. In addition, Reality TV such as Dr. 90210 has played a major role in the public seeing firsthand the “reality” behind plastic surgery; and for many people, this has inspired them to go forward and undergo some sort of improvement. No, the woman in the picture with me is not my sister, she’s my mother. And no, she hasn’t had any work done, she just ages really well. It’s because of her nearly flawless skin that I’ve never been afraid of growing older or getting wrinkles. Until a few months ago, I didn’t even know about all the various procedures that are available to those that do fear fine lines and wrinkles.

(Myself with my mom, the reason I don’t fear aging.)
With the media focusing on maintaining a youthful appearance, it’s no wonder that non-invasive procedures for the face are becoming more and more readily available. It’s also not shocking to see many women in their late 20s and early 30s lining up for Botox or lip-plumping injections. The younger you start, the longer you’ll be able to say “I’m really only 31,” when in fact you are 40. Every woman is looking for her fountain of youth. More »

Let’s face it – aging is inevitable. But with today’s science and knowledge, we are able to prevent it and slow it down so we can look healthy and fabulous at any age.
One important tactic in slowing down the aging process is providing our body with antioxidants, amino acids, and vitamins. The skin is the largest organ of the body, working 24/7 to protect us from environmental pollution and sun damage, removing toxins and acid waste.
Our skin is overworked, so we have to feed it not only topically but internally.
AdorageMD ( www.adoragemd.com) has the greatest Skin Formula supplement to attack aging and make your skin adorable at any age.
This formula includes:
DMAE – to tighten skin
MSM – “nature’s beauty mineral”
Acetyl L – carnitine and R-alpha lipoic acid, which working together are slowing the cell’s aging process and have positive effect on brain.
Lycopene, Green Tea extract, Resveratol – as powerful antioxidants
N-acetyl cystein – as a neutralizer of free radicals
Hyaluronic Acid – to promote skin’s elasticity and hydration, fighting the formation of wrinkles
Skin Formula was engineered so that you have to take no more than 2 capsules per day to promote healthy skin.
Want to receive a free monthly supply of Skin Formula as a present from Adorage?
Just leave us a comment with the answer to this question: “How often does a person have to take oral supplements to receive all of the potential benefits from them?”

Shaving is a chore that has to be done (okay, it doesn’t have to, but should be), and if you decide to adopt other methods, such as waxing
or threading, it can be a little uncomfortable and expensive. Personally, I stick to shaving. My skin is not super sensitive, but does react negatively from time to time. I am on a quest to find that perfect razor, but until then, I have found a fabulous alternative to those pesky ingrown hairs.
Queen Bee Waxing has a product that every girl should have in her bathroom, Buzz off Bumps™ For Pesky Ingrowns. Buzz off Bumps™ is a round, pre-medicated pad that is easy and fast to use. All you have to do is swipe the pad over the area 24 hours after shaving or waxing, and let dry. These little pads can be used everywhere! Your bikini area, underarms, and yes, men can use them too! Are you feeling stressed, tired, or sick? A trip to your massage therapist may be the answer to your problems. I recently had the opportunity to chat with a Holistic Health Practitioner about massage therapy, including its history and benefits.

Summer is almost here and the warm weather is already enticing us to leave our homes and head to the beach. This means that many tanning salons are completely booked for the next month or so. For women, and even some men, it’s crucial to have that “base tan” before heading out in barely-there attire to the beach.
However, with the increase in risk of skin cancer, you may want to rethink the tanning bed.For about a year, I was an avid tanner. I went to the tanning salon about three times a week to get a good “base tan” and then cut back to once a week to maintain my new look. Being of medium skin tone made this process a lot easier.
Then I started to hear about all the risks of skin cancer that could be caused by my beloved tanning beds. Like many others, I was not aware of just how harmful these bulbs really are. In fact, the rays emitted from the tanning beds could be more harmful to the skin than the sun’s rays.
Think about this: The light bulbs have to give off enough energy to tan your skin in 20 minutes, yet it takes a couple of hours to get the same effect from the sun. Yikes! More »

In today’s world, children are becoming more and more informed of “grown-up” things at a much earlier age. For example, my 6-year-old niece asked me if I had a cell phone because she wanted to add my number to her contact list. I don’t think I even had a cell phone until I was in college!
So you can imagine my surprise when I saw an article on a new children’s book about plastic surgery. My Beautiful Mommy (Big Tent Books) by Dr. Michael Salzhauer, a Florida plastic surgeon, is an illustrated book aimed at children ages 4 to 7. I remember reading “The Cat in the Hat” and “The Goldstein Bears” when I was six – not books on what my mom was going to change on her body. More »

We’ve all heard that “cleanliness is next to godliness.” Well, in my beauty-conscious mind, so is good skincare. I have admittedly battled that frustrating thing called acne, which actually isn’t just “frustrating” – it can feel more like utter torture.
For me, I had the clear, porcelain-like skin in high school, wearing anything so much as face powder. Those were so the days. But then came college. While discovering eyebrow threading and chic fashion styles, pimples were actively finding me! Fun times? Guess again…
Much like my neurotic hunt for curly hair products, my search for good skincare remedies have not gone unwarranted, especially if Dr. Susan Evans has anything to do with it.

Located in Beverly Hills of Southern California, Dr. Evans is known as a premier dermatologist who is simply “good at what [she] does” (you might recognize her from Dr. 90210 on E!) More »

While skimming over the news on MSN.com recently, I came across an interesting article (which they got from the Science Channel) titled “Top 10 Useless Body Parts.” Immediately, I was intrigued. I can certainly think of a few anatomical pests that I would rather live without!
According to this article, many parts that were once vital to our survival are now just unnecessary, and even troublesome. Here is the list of “useless body parts”:
10. Plica semilunaris (a third eyelid)
9. Body hair
8. Sinuses
7. Adenoids
6. Tonsils
5. Coccyx
4. Arrector pili (a muscle that makes our hair stand on end and gives us goose bumps)
3. Wisdom teeth
2. Appendix
1. Male nipples

As a natural-born Beauty Chatter who values a healthy lifestyle, I feel obligated to tell you about my latest finding.
Recently there has been quite a buzz regarding a Google ™ project that is currently in testing: the online storage of medical records. According to Alan Newberger, a Google engineering manager, the program is dedicated to making the patient’s medical records more attainable and convenient. More »
