Hairstylists are some of the most fashion forward people I know. They help us to achieve and show off our personal styles. But have you ever noticed that they have to wear some of the most unfashionable smocks and aprons?
Well, look for the frumpy stylists no more! Beauty Chat is happy to introduce Hairwearsmocks.com, co-founded by Gina Coale, a veteran hairstylist of 22 years. Gina has designed and produced six different styles of smocks and aprons for both men and woman. I recently spoke with Gina on her creations:
JF: Why did you create Hair Wear Smocks?
GC: I finally decided to make my own designs because for the entire 22 years, they have had the ugliest smocks and aprons! Very unflattering, no matter what your size, you always seem to look like you are wearing a trash bag! I could never find anything more attractive…so I had said for years that I would just have to create my own designs, and I did. I also wanted something that I liked wearing.
Of course the main benefit being that if you like what you are wearing, you tend to keep it on all day protecting your clothes from color and chemicals. More »

Denice: Hey Elana, did you see Lipstick Jungle last week?
Elana: I sure did. Saw it last night too! I like Nico’s position at Bonfire, Wendy’s chutzpa(!), and Victoria’s style. I mean, I REALLY like Victoria’s style. This character has really transformed Lindsey Price since her days on 90210 as Steve Sanders’ girl. More »

Beauty Chat is proud to feature Lisa Kline. You know, the fabulous boutique that is frequented by all of the hottest celebrities? The one with the mud-flap girl logo? Yeah, that one.
If you don’t regularly visit her stores (she has five in the Los Angeles area, the first of which was opened on the trendy Robertson Blvd.), you have probably seen her shop on TV and in various magazines. But if her empire is new to you, I am glad to fill you in on the magnificence that is Lisa Kline.

The stores are named after the owner, Lisa Kline – the woman behind the fashion. With an eye for style, and a business savvy that has attracted the most elite of clients, she has defined the Los Angeles retail scene. And she is at it again, with a revamped online store. More »

In addition to being a mother and a cast member of the wildly-popular television show “My Name is Earl,” Jaime Pressly is also a top-notch designer. Her classic style, mixed with fashionable flare, is evident in her newest line the J’aime Collection (which was originally debuted during LA Fashion Week this past October 2007). This venture is a spin-off of J’aime by Jaime Pressly, and it definitely appeals to the fabulous.
To get a better understanding of what is it to be an emerging talent in the fashion world, I went directly to the source — Jaime herself. Check out what the super-talent had to say: More »

If you haven’t already been introduced to Gillette Fusion™ Power razor, then gentlemen please make yourselves fully acquainted with this “5 plus the precision of 1™” bad boy. At Beauty Chat, we know that razor bumps can be a blow to your testosterone-driven confidence, but with this battery-powered, lightweight device, you can depend on less irritation and more comfort. We asked some of our fellow men over at PlasticSurgery.com exactly what they thought of the razors. Here’s what they had to say:

(P.S. Ladies, this is a great gift to throw into the Valentine’s gift box of yours [male] truly)
Kevin (Lead Creative Designer): “Shaving the old-fashioned way is something I don’t do often since I’m more of an electric razor kind of guy for the speed and convenience. I would definitely spend a couple more minutes to grab some shaving cream and take advantage of a real shave once in a while vs. the speedy not-so-close results I get from the electric. There’s a huge difference!” More »

If, like me, you have daughters who fit into the “tween” age category, you’re no doubt familiar with actress/singer Miley Cyrus and her alter ego, the blonde-wigged pop star character Hannah Montana; both are insanely popular, incredibly talented, and absolutely qualify for good role model status (permanently, I hope!).
With all the reviews buzzing around the new 3D feature Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus – Best of Both Worlds Concert, I figured: Let’s be honest here. You can read lots of reviews that focus on choreography, question lip-synching, and use words like “vanilla” and “bubblegum,” or you can come to Beauty Chat and analyze what’s really important – the costumes!
From a sequined and striped top with detachable long sleeves, to a prep school plaid skirt and tube socks, to a stripped-down hoodie/jeans/barefoot look for her acoustic set, Hannah/Miley breezed through the changes brilliantly. Each outfit seemed to perfectly capture the essence of the moment. More »

You may recognize her from the new VH1 show “The Shot,” but to those who know her, Piper Carter is a spiritual individual and a lover of the arts; holding a strong appreciation for the French New Wave movement and Shakespeare. Fashion is her favorite to photograph, and the industry is taking notice of her talents.

Piper has an innate talent for capturing the essence of the subjects in her photographs. She also has the ability to know when to pick her battles. If you were a viewer of The Shot, you undoubtedly saw the confrontations that occurred between competing photogs. However, Piper was savvy enough to steer clear of the cattiness. More »

Andrea: So Stephanie (of “Steph’s Beauty Buzz“)…Being the makeup junkie that I am and the cosmetics expert that you are — I have an important makeup question!
I always look for what’s new at my favorite cosmetic boutiques — Ulta and Sephora. But when it comes to finding the best “long-wear foundation,” I wonder how many of our Beauty Chat readers know the best method to finding the right match for their skin tone. Also, I can’t help but wonder if I’m going about finding the right foundation correctly! After all, it’s difficult to test it in the store…
Stephanie: Step one in choosing a foundation is not color, but skin type. Learn the makeup artist lingo to define you personal skin type: Dry skin, oily skin, and combination skin. More »
