American Girl gets a ‘Kiss Down Under’

Posted by Audrey at 3:21 pm

Kiss Down Under

When we got a delivery from Kiss Down Under, I was pretty excited about it because I have wanted to try this stuff since I first read about it originally sometime last year.

I started out with the Unisex Cleansing Wash, which is meant to be a personal grooming wash for the pubic area (or as I like to call them “Top Secret Lady Parts.”) Kiss Down Under advertises this product as being guaranteed to give you a “wow” sensation, all while providing you with a stern warning as to how much of the product to use. Being that I am a fairly paranoid person when it comes to the care and maintenance of my nether regions, I took this warning seriously and only used a very small amount of the cleansing wash, which I lathered up with water prior to applying it to my body. Ashanti’s Faves on Beauty Chat!

Posted by Jennifer at 11:10 am

AshantiBeauty Chat was recently contacted by Johnson’s® Body Care to partner with them in hosting a Cause Party for a local charity and we excitedly jumped at the opportunity.

All of our Beauty Chatters are always happy to help those in our communities.

Another exciting tidbit about these parties is that Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Ashanti was the host for the kick-off party in New York.

As part of our involvement with Johnson’s Body Care Cause Party, my fellow Beauty Chatter, Audrey, and I had the chance to speak with her ourselves! More »

End the Splitting!

Posted by Jennifer at 3:44 pm

How often do you blow-dry, curl, or straighten your hair? If you’re like most women, one of these hair damaging routines is part of your daily regimen.

Although we get some pretty fabulous styles by dying, curling, and/or straightening our hair, it also causes a lot of stress to our tresses.

The most obvious sign of damage: split ends! Having dyed and damaged hair myself, I tend to examine my split ends while sitting at a stop light and wishing I could somehow make them go away. And, thanks to AG Hair Cosmetics, now I can!

I recently got the opportunity to try out their yet to be released Split End SPA Repair Serum. With only a few drops, you can kiss those split ends goodbye! After using this great new product for three weeks, my hair looks and feels smoother.

Be sure to look for it when it makes its big entrance in May 2009.

Exercising and Wii: Do they Fit?

Posted by Sara at 2:25 pm

Okay, I know I am a bit behind the craze, but Nintendo ® Wii ™ is amazing and I am addicted! I recently tried out the game, Boogie SuperStar and all I can say is, I must be out of shape!  I started to break a sweat after only 20 minutes of playing. It is fun and I actually feel like I am getting a work-out, or am I?

There have been a lot of arguments for and against Wii and the fitness benefits that it entails. This is what I get from the whole phenomenon – it may not be an option for a hardcore cardiovascular work-out (such as running or kick-boxing), but it definitely does get an individual motivated and work off his/her booty! (Which is an improvement for the inactive population). On top of that, Wii challenges its players, as you get better at a particular skill, the game is designed to make the activity more difficult.

Oscar Fashion – An Evening of Shoulder-Baring Glam

Posted by Elana at 4:17 pm

Award season can definitely get a bit overdone…‘cause they all seem about the same. You have the pre-show on E! with bad to OK interviews, the presenters who present scripted introductions to the nominees, and acceptance speeches that either make you cry or want to turn the channel. HOWEVER, from the Academy Awards to the Grammy Awards, and the Emmy Awards to the indie Spirit Awards; I’m the first to admit that I watch them all! The fashion choices are always exciting to view (and judge). More »

“Perfection” – a Beauty Chat Guest Blogger Exclusive!

Posted by Elana at 4:36 pm

Big thanks to our frugal friends out there who commented on the “Budget Beauty Tips” article Jennifer posted at the beginning of ’09. This piece consisted of ultimate Beauty Chatter budget-saving, beauty secrets. Storing makeup in the refrigerator, using toilet seat covers instead of oil absorbing sheets, and using Vaseline on eyelids before applying eye shadow for a vibrant look; these are just some of the insider tips we couldn’t wait to share with you (including my “stick your face in the freezer to keep your makeup from melting off during the summer” tip).

In return, we asked you for your favorite budget beauty tip! Those that left their own beauty secrets were entered into a contest to win a spot on Beauty Chat as a guest blogger. So a big round of applause to Andrea Galvan of Things That Come to Mind… She shared this with us: “Running out of liquid eyeliner? Dip a pencil eyeliner in water and you get the same affect.” More »

Valentine’s Day Guide to Survival

Posted by Sara at 12:18 pm

February 14th, some of you may call it Valentine’s Day, but those flying solo may refer to it as “Single’s Awareness Day”- whatever your reference to this day may be, despite your belief in its meaning, don’t let this day discourage you from having a good time-alone or attached.

As an unbeliever of what this day really means, I am not the type of girl to make a big deal about “V” day. There is a lot of history behind it, which I do find interesting, so I try not to be a party pooper and usually take advantage of what some may call the “Hallmark Greeting Card” holiday. More »

Prep For Your Valentine!

Posted by Jennifer at 4:00 pm

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away and that means we ladies only have a limited amount of time to get ourselves looking gorgeous (not that we aren’t already). So what’s a girl to do with only a small time frame? Panic! Just kidding…here a few quick tips.

If you were planning on getting your hair done by a pro but forgot to book your appointment, no need to worry. Save a few bucks and do it yourself, or ask a friend to help. For you curly tressed gals, let your spirals flow. Add a few bobby pins to keep them out of your face and you’re all set. Have gorgeous, wavy hair? Add a little mouse, air dry and you’re ready to go! If you have pin straight hair like I do, just run the flat iron through to tame those pesky fly-aways and throw on a cute headband.

You Ask, We Chat!

Posted by Staff Report at 10:26 am

Happy Wednesday! We hope you are all having a fabulous day and now bring you this week’s questions.

Hi Elana,

I wanted to add a little spice to my wardrobe. My clothes are mostly black, white, and gray; I think it is just easy and those colors go with everything. Lately, I have been wanting to get experimental with colors, but unfortunately I don’t want to buy an entire new wardrobe. How can I gradually add more colors to my usual black, white, and gray outfits?
