Painting the Town Red, Or Maybe Just My Nails

Posted by Audrey at 4:21 pm

I’m a big fan of all things nail related. As a proud owner of strong nails that naturally grow quickly, I take great pride in having pretty finger and toenails. Whenever we get to try out a new nail product for Beauty Chat, I’m all over it. In this case, I was intrigued.

Barielle got its start making hoof conditioners for million-dollar racehorses, and over the course of their 30+ year history, ended up using an improved version of the formula to create a line of nail, hand and foot care products.

Personally, I liked the products I tried out. The Barielle Cuticle Replenisher with mango butter worked well and left my cuticles feeling soft and more smoothly shaped. It appeared to last a good while throughout the day and had a really nice smell to it, which wouldn’t make or break my decision on whether to buy the product, but was certainly an added bonus. Texturize Your Tresses!

Posted by Jennifer at 3:44 pm

If you’re a fan of AG Hair Cosmetics, then you’ve probably already heard of their new dv8 Texture Spray. Meant for shorter hairstyles, this styling product holds your locks in place all day, provides texture and shine. Since my hair is ultra straight and a medium length, I asked my boyfriend to try it out on his curly tresses.

After testing it out for a few weeks, here’s what he said:

“I liked that it has a good hold to it but didn’t like that it took too long to dry. And it made my hair seem extra curly. Oh, and the smell isn’t too bad either.”

Overall, a pretty good product…just be sure to give your hair time to dry. And since it can be used on damp or dry hair, you can spray it on just after you shower or once you’re ready to put on the finishing touches. Another great thing about this texture spray is that you can just rewet your hair in the afternoon to restyle. It even washes out easily at the end of the day without leaving any gunky build up.

The new AG Hair Cosmetics dv8 Texture Spray is now available in salons and retails for $20.00, be sure to get yours for some fun, new styling!

Beauty Chat Says Hello, Goodbye in 2009

Posted by Elana at 3:38 pm

Just as the years pass and the seasons change, people make career shifts.

Having personally hired former Beauty Chatters Leeann Morrissey, Brook Flagg, and Sarah Gammill; I was crushed seeing each writer move on from our PlasticSurgery.com, Rancho Cucamonga office during these past few months. And while I literally wanted to grab them by their trendy hairstyles and force them to sit down (and not move ‘til I said so!); I understood each of their unique decisions. And through various social networks, I happily keep in contact with each writer – considering their energy is still part of the Beauty Chat family. Where are they now? Here ya go: More »

Purely Clear Skin Care

Posted by Jacquie at 4:24 pm

As I get older, I notice more and more that I need to have a daily routine to keep my skin looking healthy, clean and wrinkle free.  I prefer the organic, natural products.  There are enough pollutants in the air, so why add more with your toner or moisturizer?

Purely Clear offers a line that works for all skin types.

I don’t get too many blemishes a just a few here and there.  I do have blackheads, a bad T-Zone, and very dry cheeks.  This combo makes it difficult to finding products that will not send my pores into overload.

Purely Clear is different; it cleans without over drying or leaving an oily feeling.  The toner is a blend of oils that don’t dry out your skin and the Intensive Repair and Wrinkle Serum help to balance and moisturize. More »

“Spritz the Bowl before you go and no one else will ever know”

Posted by Jacquie at 9:31 am

Sharing a restroom with multiple people means the potty is not always going to be fresh and stink free. Air-fresheners, such as sprays, plug in’s and candles help mask the leftover aroma, but the smell is still there. These products are for before the deed for an after the deed cover up.

Poo-Pourri is different.  It’s a wonderful mix of all natural oils that eliminate odor. Not just cover it up, but also get rid of it!  Hears how it works.

• Shake and spay the water 4 – 6 times
• Take care of business
• Flush

The oils leave a layer on the water that traps and diffuses the odors.  No one has to know what you were up to.  For us at Beauty Chat /PlasticSurgery.com, Poo-Pourri has made the restroom a better place.

Ladies, visit the Poo-Pourri Web site and get your husbands or boyfriends a stocking stuffer that will benefit you, too.

Take a look at all the wonderful smells, such as Heaven Scent or just for the boys, Royal Flush.

Hooked on Blush!

Posted by Andrea at 8:57 am

I’m completely hooked on Lifetime’s new television series, Blush! It’s a competition looking for “The Next Great Makeup Artist.” Hosted by Vanessa Marcil, the series consists of makeup artists from all over the country, who are chosen to live under one roof in Los Angeles and participate in different competitions that test their skills and persona with clients.  Each episode, a contestant is eliminated and sent home, which is decided by judges, Joanna Schlip and Hal Rubenstein. On last night’s episode, Maura “Mo” Lewitts was eliminated.

All of the participants are competing for the grand prize that includes a contract as a professional makeup artist for Max Factor, $100,000 in cash and the opportunity to be the makeup artist for a future photo shoot for InStyle magazine.

Blush airs Tuesday nights at 10 pm ET/PT.  I would definitely suggest everyone, especially you “makeup junkies” out there, to tune in and cheer on your favorite artist.  Go Todd!!! He’s my favorite.  Who’s yours??

"The New Science of Perfect Skin" for a New You!

Posted by Jennifer at 4:07 pm

Being a Beauty Chatter and writer for PlasticSurgery.com has taught me many things about beauty and skin care. However, there’s always something new and “miraculous” being promoted in the media, which makes it a little hard to find the right products for my particular needs.

If you’re looking for a little help in figuring out what actually works, take a look at my review on the new book by Daniel Yarosh, Ph.D., The Science of Perfect Skin – Understanding Skin-Care Myths and Miracles for Radiant Skin at Any Age. Now you can learn how to read a product label and the type of skin care regimen that actually works for you!
